What’s really going on? March 2, 2012

Are you feeling overwhelmed  by today’s  news cycle? Is the  presidential campaign coverage leaving you bewildered? Does the middle-east terrify you with all their rage over the Qur’an burnings? Are your knees knocking with all the talk of war with Iran concerning their nuke program? Does the U.S. economy leave you wanting to horde canned goods and packages of seed? Does the tax code and its demands for your money drive you insane? Are the prices of gas and food stretching you to the limit?  What the heck is going on?

The answer is astonishingly simple.

” But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there”. (James 3: 14-16)

The world is in confusion right now and every evil thing is running rampant. Why else would a religion promoting itself as a “religion of peace” come unhinged and riot at every possible opportunity? Why would the head of a sovereign nation repeatedly call for the destruction of another (see: Iran and Israel)? Why would the head of the world’s only super power apologize for something that needs no apology and then do nothing when our military are murdered over the incident? Why does the land of opportunity continue to slaughter millions and deny them opportunity (see: abortion)? Why does our government continue to spend more of our money than we can make on programs we really don’t want and then print more money to make up the difference thereby devaluing the only currency we use? Why does it look more and more likely that we will be voting into office one of two men who, neither one, acknowledges nor serve the true God in heaven and His Son Jesus, considering that this very same country was founded on belief in this very same God? Why do we allow our lives to be disrupted and changed for the lie of global warming?

Because of the confusion; the disorder that results from being governed and controlled by human wisdom only.

Why else would a person feel the need to amass unimaginable wealth when they clearly cannot use it themselves because there is too much and they clearly cannot take it with them and someone else will enjoy their hard earned wealth? Why else do we have untold millions wallowing in abject poverty? Why else would someone stand before a public assembly and demand that her government pay for her contraceptives because she is going broke having sex? Why else would a club of wealthy narcissists gather with great pageant and award themselves a golden statue and get billions to watch (see: the Oscars)? Why else do those same narcissists hate the very country that made them famous and wealthy? Why else are our children in the cross-hairs of psychopaths stalking our schools?

Because we’ve thrown God out of our schools and worshiped at the altar of self and self-promotion.

Why else does someone think it’s okay to take another persons wages and spread it around? Why else do we get attacked by a religion and then spend all our time apologizing to it? Why else have we allowed our government to grow so bloated and overreaching it is nearly impossible for independent entrepreneurs to start and grow successful businesses? Why else do we try to remove the ability of law  abiding citizens to defend themselves and others? Otherwise we wouldn’t be having these problems and our news cycle wouldn’t be overwhelmed by chaos and insanity.

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” (James 3: 17-18)

The world has turned away from God and followed after its own pleasure and lusts. It is no wonder it very nearly resembles an asylum.

“where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. (James 4: 1-3)

It is no mystery why there is crime and hate and war. It is no mystery why people act like lunatics and pat themselves on the back and then pitch a fit when no one congratulates them. It is no mystery why morons are offended at every opportunity and want the world to know. It is no mystery why we have rampant lawsuit abuse. It is no mystery why governments and those in government are corrupt and out of control. It is no mystery why false religion inflames its acolytes to commit heinous acts upon their fellow believers and supposed enemies.

The world is corrupt. The news is bad. People are crazy.

When they turn away from God and follow their own agenda.

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “the Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? (James 4: 4-5)

You don’t really need to be worried about what is going on. You can have peace and reassurance that everything will be okay. You don’t have to panic whenever the news tells you to panic. all you have to do is turn back to God. Quit living for yourself. Quit striving for your 15 minutes of fame. It’s really not worth it.

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (James 4: 7-10)

If you find that you really are not concerned about these things because, by the way, you kind of like what’s happening and maybe even agree with it a little bit. Then I pray for you. You clearly don’t understand what is going on.

There is only one place to attain wisdom and understanding: “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1: 7)

The world is crazy and getting worse by the minute. Now would be a good time to extricate yourself from the chaos. It can only lead to your undoing.  Turn  back to God, now, before it is too late. If you have never known him – you can find him just as you are. He is waiting to save you from the madness. Just read John 3:14-21.

Once you turn to God and invite him into your life, He gives you his Spirit of Truth.

Then you will know what is really going on.
